Meet Mike Simmons

Growing up as the son of an Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, I was raised with strong values of service, discipline, and hard work. Working on our family farm helped reinforce these values.

 

My work experience includes a 30-year career in retail, where I managed multimillion dollar budgets, controlled costs, increased profitability, and led diverse teams. This experience provided me with the business, financial, and leadership experience I now bring to public service. I have always focused on facts and strived for practical solutions through collaboration with my teams.

 

I am a current member of the Marina City Planning Commission and volunteer with Sustainable Marina. I was also a member of the Citizens Facility Advisory Committee and participated in the Downtown Vitalization Workshop. Prior to moving to Marina, I served on the HOA architectural committee (San Ramon), served for 2 years on the Contra Costa County Civil Grand Jury (1 year as Grand Jury foreperson), and served on the Board of Directors for the River Estates Mutual Water Corporation (Ukiah). I was a youth sports coach and official for baseball, basketball, and football (Atwater).

In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf and have worked at several golf courses over the years, including Bayonet Blackhorse and Tehama Golf Club.

My wife and I have been happily married for 37 years and have lived in Marina for eight years.
